How Shall We Feed Them| Enlarged Borders | | Posted by Marty on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 7:25am | Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!" And God granted him what he requested. 1 Chronicles 4:10
Writing a book and promoting it has enlarged my borders. God has opened doors for radio interviews, meeting people, writing a ministry blog and new writing experiences all along the way. The journey has been slow and steady and it is great to see God at work in me personally and also in the hearts of others.
Little did I know that God would open more doors for writing opportunities. In February 2010, I was asked to be a weekly contributing devotional writer for Our Circle of Friends website, located in Sugar Creek, Ohio. This weekly writing challenge has helped me grow in the Lord tremendously. Taking steps of faith to seek the Holy Spirit and His heart has allowed me to trust Him to know what to write. Posting the weekly devotional on facebook allows borders for Christ to broaden even more.
In March 2011, God allowed me to attend a Christian writers conference in Florida ( I never saw that coming). Loved it and I would go back in a heartbeat. Attending the conference allowed me to see other writing opportunities such as submitting devotionals to Upper Room devotional magazine and having them published in future publications. Exciting!!!!
Just like Jabez prayed to God to expand his borders, I too desire for God to enlarge my borders of sharing Christ. Writing a book, that God ask me to write, set the stage for borders to be expanded. Who knew that taking steps of faith in completing a book and getting it published would open so many other doors? I certainly didn't but God did.
Thank you Father for using me as a vessel to enlarge my borders of sharing Christ with others. In Jesus Name, Amen!
Faithfully His,
Marty

| | | | | Blessed in Believing | | Posted by Marty on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 7:27pm | John 20:29 Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
Stepping out in faith to publish a book that you know Christ has called you to write is exciting, thrilling, scary and breath taking all at the same time.
It has been a year since the book "How Shall We Feed Them?" was placed on line for purchase. This incredible journey of being an author has me still pinching myself as I continue to watch God open doors for people to hear and read about the book. Therefore these past fourteen months, I have definitely lived a blessed life for taking steps of faith in believing God, his word and his calling.
Yet nothing can compare to the step of faith I took when I ask Jesus to become my Lord and Savior at the age of seven. As a child, growing up in a Christian home, I regularly heard about Jesus every Sunday and at home but the connection of what Jesus truly did for me was not real until I visually saw his life portrayed in a movie. (Hmm, in a way I think I am a visual learner just like the disciple Thomas.)
Living a blessed life is for all who have stepped out in faith and trusted Jesus as their Savior believing that he died on the cross for their sins. This breath taking, exhilerating journey of faith is exciting and I am so glad that I have placed my trust in him.
Blessed in Believing,
Marty

| | | | | Book Review Blessings! | | Posted by Marty on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 4:11am | "The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty." Proverbs 21:5
Marketing a book has been a road with many bumps and turns. I continue to learn to diligently stay on the road and it will lead to profit, just as God's word says. With the Lord's hand guiding and directing the path, doors are being opened by Him for the book and His message to get out.
I am extremely thankful for those who take the time to give me a radio interview. They are taking a step of faith in God that an unknown author, such as myself, has a message from the Lord that people need to hear. Praise God for those who have and will continue to do so.
Some marketing contacts do take longer than others. In the past few months I have sent out several book packages to Christian book review blogs, patiently waiting for responses of having a book review posted on their websites. This past weekend two of the reviews came through. Hallelujah!!!
God is soooo Good!!!
Take a peek at the following Christian book review websites and read the reviews. Diligently waiting upon the Lord, does pay off when you are actively on the road with Him.
Blessings!
Marty

| | | | | Food Pantry Blessings | | Posted by Marty on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 5:57am | "After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church - for we are members of his body."
Ephesians 5:29-30
I love working with the body of Christ, especially when we work according to His plan and purpose. The food pantry ministry has given me the opportunity to work with some wonderful Christian people who have a heart for the Lord.
Cheryl - the food pantry coordinator is gifted in grace and hospitality.
Norma - helps the team administratively with her gifts.
Kathy - has a heart for hard work and organization.
Theresa - enjoys helping and feeding those in need.
Jenn - loves stocking the shelves with her small children so they will learn about giving to others.
Leigh - is challenged by a good coupon sale so she can give to those in need.
Brandy - demonstates the love of God everywhere she goes.
Andrea - constantly likes to bless people and is always thinking of others.
Ansley - has a heart for those less fortunate and in need of knowing the Lord.
Christine - the fragrance of the Lord is evident everywhere she goes.
Margaret - loves God and is open to His will in helping others.
John - is a walking miracle and enjoys helping those in need.
Myself - I am blessed to be a part of such a wonderful ministry. As the food pantry liaison, God has allowed me to use and stretch my gifts to serve and glorify Him.
Thank you Holy Father for the blessing of working with such great people. I appreciate your presence and power being in control of this ministry. Continue to bless us with the ability to minister to those who need physical food as well as spiritual food each week. In Jesus Name, Amen!
Blessings!
